The original Leehigh Autobody shop, located at 8810 Lee Highway, Fairfax,
was originally built by the present owners Father, Armistead Turner
Thompson circa 1925, as a wood-slab sided dance hall.
This forerunner of the Leehigh Autobody shop ceased to operate as a dance
hall in 1933, and was used primarily for storage from 1933-1938.
Shortly thereafter the building was converted to use as an Autobody repair
shop, and Leehigh Autobody was born. Over the course of the next 1/2 century,
both the building and the business expanded. The building added cinder block
walls, indoor plumbing, concrete floors and rear bay doors, and the business
expanded its staff and ownership evolved to include RSG Associates.
RSG Associates is comprised of the 3 sons of the original builder, Armistead
Thompson. When the original building was planned to be torn down to make way
for new development, Armisteads sons Ralph, Spencer and Gordon decided
to carry on the business in a new location. With the vision of a lasting legacy
and continued excellence in the automotive service industry, RSG Associates
have built a state-of-the-art 30,000 sq.ft. automotive repair facility in
Loudoun County, VA near Dulles Airport, which opened for business in June
of 2006. With the addition of an automotive repair shop, auto detailing facility
and 2 of the industrys best paint booths, Leehigh Autobdy and Service
Center continues as a leader in the automotive repair business in the Greater
Washington, DC metropolitan area.
